Gay Popular Hotels in Central Paris

Most of Paris’ gay nightlife is concentrated in the trendy area of the Marais, which is also known for its boutique shopping, delicious food, and classically Parisian narrow streets. However, there is also a cluster of popular gay bars …

in Chatelet (which is close to the Marais) as well as several other venues spread out across the city. Larger dance nights tend to take place further out from the center, and gay saunas can be found throughout Paris.

Accommodation in Paris is, generally speaking, very pricey. This is why we have included few luxury options (these tend to be prohibitively expensive) and focused on unique, charming, boutique hotels in excellent locations.

It is also worth noting that because of Paris’ unique approach to city design, whereby historic buildings are continuously preserved and new builds are practically nonexistent, rooms tend to be on the smaller side. However, this is also what makes Paris such an exceptionally beautiful city, and is after all part of the charm.

Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opera was built in 1861 as part of the original development by Haussmann that created the opulent Opera neighborhood as we know it today. It is an example of classic Parisian architecture, and has been part of the city’s history since its inception.

Sofitel prides itself in bringing some French flair to every one of their international hotels. Here, in the very heart of Paris, the result is unapologetically and undeniably Parisian. The rooms and suites are a modern re-imagination of Haussmann’s 19th-century architecture, using a simple neutral color scheme to highlight the opulent, plushy furnishings and impeccable French style.

There is a splendid restaurant, Le Lumiere, which is named in honor of the Lumiere brothers, who invented cinema and held their first private screening in the building that is now Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opera. L’Obscur bar is luxuriously swanky and old-fashioned, giving you the impressing of stepping back through time. The hotel also has excellent spa and wellness facilities at Keiraõ Spa.

Opera isn’t a particularly gay area, but it is one of Paris’ most iconic and gorgeous neighborhoods. There are a few gay nightlife options nearby, such as Doctor Love and LIM parties at Club Haussmann and Bizarre Love Triangle at Maxim’s, both about 10 minutes away. Two gay saunas, Sauna IDM and Euro Men’s Club, are also walking distance. The gay bars and clubs of the Marais can easily be accessed in under 20 minutes with the Metro.

For those used to the shiny modern glamour of international W locations, W Paris Opera can at first seem very traditional. But what W Hotels always do is lend their fresh eye for design to the specific location, and in Paris, this means everything is classically chic.

From the Haussmann 19th-century building to the grand architecture of the lobby and the gorgeous decorative molding in the rooms, everything reminds you of the grandeur of the city you are staying in. But, of course, elements of modern and cutting-edge design can be found everywhere.

There is a good range of room sizes, ranging from cozy and compact to the extravagance of the E-Wow suites. Some of the rooms offer incredible views of the Opera Garnier, one of Paris’ most beautiful buildings. The rooms all blend high-end design and plush comfort and are mostly quite spacious for Parisian standards.

W Hotel Paris has a very good restaurant, Coquette, as well as the usual W Lounge. The FIT Fitness Center on the fifth floor is one of the most pleasant spaces in the hotel, with lots of natural light and great city views. It is also well-equipped for both cardio and weight workouts, and features quirky original wall art to give you a boost.

The location in Opera is perfect for sightseeing, with Opera Garnier, Galleries Lafayette, the Louvre, and the Tuileries Gardens all walking distance. There are several Metro stations surrounding the hotel, meaning you can easily access just about anywhere in the city, including the gayborhood of the Marais. Club Haussmann, which hosts regular gay parties, is just 4 minutes away, and it’s a 10-minute walk to two of the city’s most popular gay saunas.

When it comes to Paris locations, it doesn’t get any more iconic than this. Hotel Napoleon is located less than 5 minutes away from the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysées, placing you in the middle of Paris’ luxury shopping area. The rest of the city is easily reached by Metro, with the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Opera, and Marais gay area all reachable within 20 minutes. Matinee Paris, one of the city’s biggest and wildest gay parties, is held at a club just 5 minutes away from the hotel.

As the name implies, Hotel Napoleon is decorated in a lavish Empire style, with rich fabrics, curtained beds, and antique touches. There are both rooms and suites, all beautifully arranged and supremely comfortable. Certain suites have incredible views over the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower – although these of course are considerably more expensive.

The Bivouac restaurant offers modern twists on classic French cuisine – check out the weekly market lunch menu for something inventive and incredibly fresh. Its terrace is a lovely and quiet place to drink and dine, especially during the warmer months. The hotel also offers a delectable Sunday brunch, with champagne, perfect pastries and cakes, savory treats, and beautifully fresh fruit.

This Mercure hotel is located just minutes from the Eiffel Tower, meaning you are right next to the one thing every visitor to Paris wants to see. While this is a bit removed from both the Marais gayborhood and central Paris landmarks, the city’s trusty Metro means that nothing is ever very far away. There is a great Thai-themed gay sauna about 25 minutes away, and there are sometimes gay events at nearby Palais de Tokyo.

The hotel has been recently renovated and all the rooms are looking stylish and modern. The Eiffel Tower is a recurring theme in the rooms, with large murals of the monument overlooking every bed, but the decor is otherwise simple and minimalist. Most of the rooms look alike, but differ in size, amenities, and view – the Eiffel Tower view in certain rooms never gets old. Privilege rooms have additional luxury bedding, iPod docking, and Nespresso machines, while the suites have heavenly essential oils diffusers in the showers.

The downstairs restaurant is airy and extremely pleasant, and also features a terrace for sunny days. Breakfast is tasty, varied, and good value – especially since cafes in the area are likely to be very pricey. The fitness center is small but has perfect views of the Eiffel Tower, making your workouts in Paris that little bit more special.

This designer boutique hotel is located in the heart of the Marais, otherwise known as Paris’ gay neighborhood. It has a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and is very popular with gay visitors to the city. Most of Paris’ gay bars, cafes, and clubs are nearby – Open Cafe, a staple of Paris gay nightlife, is located a short 3-minute walk away, as are popular hotspots COX, freedj, and RAIDD Bar.

Hotel Duo is almost 100 years old, but you wouldn’t tell by walking into it. Despite having a long history, it has succeeded in remaining current and a recent renovation has left it looking stunning and spotless. It is entirely dedicated to exceptional design, with a decor that manages to be both modern and classic, understated and original. All the communal spaces are incredibly pleasant, especially the internal patio with its beautiful vertical garden. Inside the rooms, muted neutral tones are offset by pops of bright color, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere.

One of the things that set Hotel Duo apart is its lovely and helpful staff. The hotel also boasts a small but well-equipped fitness room and a sauna to unwind after your workout. The breakfast is particularly tasty, with a wide range of continental options.

Hotel du Petit Moulin is a beautifully quirky “couture” boutique hotel in the Marais. The building was originally Paris’ first bakery, and the original frontage has been preserved so that you feel like you are entering a classic Boulangerie every time you return to your hotel room.

Inside, the rooms, designed by Christian LaCroix, are also filled with eccentricities, from wildly clashing wallpaper prints to huge murals and colorful patterned tilework in the bathrooms. Some are more flamboyant than others, but all maintain a sense of fun, color, and style. Overall this is not a hotel for those who like a muted palette and a neutral atmosphere.

This is very much an intimate boutique experience – there are only a total of 17 rooms, including an attic Junior Suite. This allows every room to be completely unique. Some have a decadent baroque feel to them, some feature nods to Parisian fashion and architecture, and some are sleek and contemporary.

The location is one of the hotel’s best features. As well as being only a stone’s throw away from the Picasso Museum, it is just a 10-minute walk to most of the bars and clubs in the Marais. There are two gay bars just around the corner: seedy cruise bar Le Mensch and local favorite One Way, popular with a leather and bear crowd. If you want your night to go further, CUD, a small trendy late-night gay club, is just 5 minutes away.

This gay-friendly hotel in Paris has an absolutely show-stopping location. Right next to the Seine, you are directly surrounded by the gorgeous Eastern facade of the Louvre (known as Perrault’s Colonnade) and by a stunning medieval church. Some of the rooms offer views on these iconic Parisian buildings – ask whether any are available when you book.

Obviously, you are just about as close to the Louvre as you can be, so this is a perfect location for culture buffs. A short walk across the river will get you to l’Ile de la Cite, the river island that is famously home to Notre-Dame cathedral, while just 20 minutes is enough to take you to the heart of the Marais gayborhood. This location is one of the main factors that have made this a Certificate of Excellence award winner on TripAdvisor.

There is a total of 20 rooms in this chic boutique hotel, all of which are decorated simply in soothing blues and beiges. As is normal in central Paris, they tend to be on the smaller side, but are always clean and comfortable (and the beds are excellent). The hotel’s staff is very friendly and helpful, and the hotel’s small size means they can be extra attentive.

Hotel Jules & Jim is a popular gay-friendly Paris hotel located in the Marais. It is made up of a main building and two smaller houses, surrounding an lovely secluded courtyard. This gives the hotel an impression of quiet and serenity, even as you stay within the heart of the city.

There are only 23 rooms, but five distinct categories mean that there is plenty of choice. In particular, we recommend the “Jules” rooms for solo travelers, the Hi-Mac rooms for fans of modern design, and the romantic Sous Les Toits (Under The Roofs) room for couples, which have their own small balcony with views of Paris.

There is a cool and trendy bar with courtyard seating which serves inventive cocktails and attracts a crowd of local Parisians as well as hotel guests. The hotel also functions as an art gallery for up-and-coming artists, with a particular focus on photography, illustration, and street art.

Jules & Jim is perfectly located, within a 10-minute walk of the gay bars in the Marais as well as the Picasso Museum, Centre Pompidou, Notre-Dame, and the shops and city-wide transport links of Chatelet. There are a few great gay spots even closer, including CUD (for late-night dancing), Duplex (for artsy intellectual conversations), La Boite A Frissons (for old-fashioned dance hall fun), Le Depot (for cruising), and the huge Sun Sauna.

Hotel Elixir is a relatively new hotel that was refurbished in 2013. It has a sleek and modern style, despite being housed in a traditional Parisian building. In fact, the hotel makes the most of this, highlighting traditional elements like the 16th-century vaulted ceiling in the basement breakfast room.

The 20 rooms are all artfully decorated in a contemporary style, with plenty of slate grey and Scandi-style minimalist design. There is a single room that is perfect for solo travelers, as well as a roomy quadruple suite for larger groups. There is also the option of booking a set of connecting rooms.

The best thing about Hotel Elixir, however, is the location. The hotel is only a block away from the Seine riverbank, a 10-minute walk to the Louvre, Notre-Dame, and the Marais gay area. Chatelet, the largest metro station in the world, is basically on Hotel Elixir’s doorstep, and it connects to anywhere you would want to go in the city and beyond (including the airports, Versailles, and Disneyland Paris).

In terms of gay nightlife, long-standing Paris favorite Banana Cafe is just five minutes away, as are various other great choices like The LABO, SLY Bar, Bear’s Den, and Au Mange-Disque.

Citadines Les Halles offers apartment-style accommodation in one of the most central locations in Paris. Les Halles is the city’s largest shopping center and is also a major transport hub: the Metro station of Chatelet (just one minute away from the hotel), connects to almost every public transport line in the city.

Le Relais du Marais is a very popular hotel with gay travelers. It is located a bit north of the Marais, but still within easy walking distance of its gay bars, clubs, and shops.
